Pro - Shop Titleist Demo Day at Courtown Golf Club Tuesday 4th October from 2 - 7 p.m. Why not come and try the latest Titleist TSR Driver, or maybe think about a new set of irons? Book your slot through the Pro-Shop as times will be limited. Golf lessons will continue over the Winter months in the Trackman Studio. Now is the time to maybe take a look at making those changes that will help to improve your game. Could be a swing change or just a simple refresher to remind yourself of the basic principles that our games are based on. We also have a club fitting available in the Trackman Studio and have demo clubs from Titleist, Taylor Made, Mizuno, Cleveland and Ping. With Christmas just around the corner you may be thinking of new irons or a Driver, so by spending an hour with us we can compare your own clubs to see where those extra gains may be made. Pro Shop - Golf Prizes The high number of prizes that have been unclaimed over the last few years has resulted in a high level of credit built up in the shop. We would ask that all prizes be collected and credit used up before the end of the year. We hope that you appreciate our position as this would allow us to keep a constant flow of stock and to provide the best possible service to all the members. Practice Ground Work has commenced on the upgrade of the Practice Ground and new Short Game area. It is hoped to have this facility ready and open for early next year. We will keep you posted. With the Practice ground out of commission and the evenings drawing in, why not book a session in the Trackman Studio to keep that swing going over the Autumn and Winter months. Committees 2023 As the dates for the A.G.M.’s are drawing nearer it’s time to think about 2023 committees. If you, or a friend have any interest in putting your name forward for Ladies, Men’s or Management Committees, the nomination forms will be available from the office or in the locker rooms from November. All forms must have the name of the nominee along with a proposer and a seconder, and must be left into the office 2 weeks in advance of the relevant A.G.M. You will receive a Notice of A.G.M. in November with full details and this will also be posted on the notice boards. Constitution Rule 24.4 a) Rule 24.4 a states:- “In future competitions anyone who does not turn up for their time on the timesheet is (following contact by the relevant mens’ or ladies competition committee) disqualified from 2 eighteen hole club competitions as advised by the relevant committee and must pay the entry fee for the competition for which they failed to turn up unless at least 24 hours notice has been given to the playing partner(s) of such person”. This rule has fallen into abeyance in recent years, particularly during the pandemic. Due to a number of “no shows” in recent months this rule needs to be rejuvenated. As it is part of our constitution, committees are obliged to ensure its adherence. We ask that should you have to remove your name from the timesheet, that you give your playing partners plenty of notice and perhaps contact them to afford them sufficient time to make alternative arrangements. Removing your name from the timesheet with too short a notice is not acceptable. We do recognise that there will be some unavoidable circumstances and these will be dealt with on a case by case basis Rule of Golf Rule 18.2a When ball is out of bounds A ball is out of bounds only when all of it is outside the boundary edge of the course. Rule 18.2b What to do if your ball is lost or out of bounds If your ball is lost or out of bounds, you must take stroke-and-distance relief by adding one penalty stroke and playing a ball from where the previous stroke was made (see Rule 14.6). Unlike a red or yellow stake, a white stake denoting out of bounds cannot be moved to improve your swing. A useful App to have is the R&A Rules of Golf. Search for it in your App Store, download it to your phone and away you go!
