Leave of Absence Policy (LOA) for Courtown Golf Club
1. Purpose
The Management recognises that from time-to-time members can experience health related issues which prevent them from playing
golf and this policy will allow members to apply for a formal LOA from the club.
As a member’s owned club, it has to balance its wish to look after its members with consideration to the Clubs financial position, its commitment
to staff, and to its commercial agreements with banks and suppliers.
2. Definition
Leave of Absence is permission to suspend playing membership of the club on certified medical grounds, due to illness, injury, or other medical
health- related condition.
3. Duration
LOA may be granted for a period of not less than 6 months and not more than 12 months.
No more than 2 separate periods of LOA will be granted in any 3 year period.
An extension to a full years LOA may be requested in writing.
4. Eligibility
1. Three continuous years of membership prior to the application.
2. The applicants membership subscription is fully paid, or up to date in an agreed payment plan.
3. A member granted LOA must become a pavilion member during the period of LOA and pay the appropriate subscription to retain their membership.
5. Application Process
Application for LOA is to be made on the LOA application form which is available in the Office. When returned, completed it should be accompanied by supporting medical documentation.
Application should be made, as far as possible, within 30 days of the injury/illness or other condition which gave rise to the application.
Applications received after this period may not be considered.
Applications and accompanying documentation may be submitted to the office electronically, marked FAO Hon. Secretary.
Applications will be considered and dealt with by the C.O.M.
All applications will be dealt with in confidence and stored in compliance with (GDRP).
6. General Conditions.
LOA will generally only be granted for a period of one year and any full entry fee paid in respect of new membership will not apply on return from the one year.
The Management Committee responsible for processing all applications, have the authority to classify an application as an exception to the policy and,
after documenting its reasons, proceed to decide on the applications designation.
Members granted LOA will be reclassified on the club membership (Clubnet) system as a Pavilion member and their status changed to non-playing member during their LOA period.
It is the responsibility of the member granted a period of LOA to inform the club of any change in contact details.
A member returning from an approved LOA, must advise the club in writing or by email of the date of their intention to return to playing status membership.
