Junior Girls’ Policy & Criteria to enter competitions
You may play in junior competitions without a handicap but you must be given permission at coaching to do so.
If you have been given permission at coaching to go out on the course always ring the pro shop to see if there is a suitable time that you can play. This only applies if you are going to practise with another junior. Always be aware of the people behind and if you have a lost a hole in front just stand aside and call the players behind through. You may use the practice ground at any time.
Before you can take part in ladies’ competitions you must obtain an official handicap by completing 3 eighteen holes stableford cards signed by a person with an official golf handicap. You may play 9 holes at a time and when you have 3 front nine cards and 3 back nine cards completed these cards should go to the handicap secretary so as she can give you an official handicap.
LADIES COMPETITIONS Once you have obtained an official handicap you may play in ladies competitions at the discretion of the junior convenor. She may decide that you should start with 9 holes and graduate to 18 holes. There are special 9 holes slots on the Tuesday competitions. Once you have graduated to playing 18 holes she may also decide that you must play with adults or at least one adult. The Ladies committee have designated four competitions as “Majors” to which restrictions on juniors winning main prizes apply. In both Lady Captain’s and Lady President’s day there will be a separate junior prize. The other 2 competitions designated as majors are Tuesday sponsored by the Taravie, Tuesday sponsored by John Coone. On these 4 days junior girls may win category prizes only.
