Ladies 18 hole and 9 hole singles and for the men, a 9 holes competition playing from the red tees and using 3 clubs plus a putter. All support would be greatly appreciated. There follows some entertainment provided by our very own multi talented members….. So even if you can’t play golf that day, come along to the club in the evening to witness some “Courtown Style “ fun in what promises to be an evening to remember! There will also be prizes for the best fancy dress of the day and a raffle. New Thursday Evening Competition There will be a new 11 hole competition every Thursday evening from 5pm -7pm throughout the Summer starting on Thursday June 5th. This is for all members and an ideal way to fit in some golf after a day’s work. Entry is €4 and sign in, in the Pro Shop. There will be a Drinks Reception after the first event on the 5th June. The recent Italian themed golf and dinner was a great success with Anslem and the team in The Green Restaurant serving up delicious Italian food which was enjoyed by all. It is hoped that there may be another themed golf and dinner event in the future. The Green Restaurant will be open throughout the weekend serving Daily Specials and their Sunday Lunch Carvery runs from 12 noon every Sunday Our Men’s and Ladies Teams have been out in force recently and many thanks to all Team managers, players and caddies who give of their time to represent our club. We have had mixed fortunes with our teams, but well done to each and everyone of you for “donning the jersey”. The raffle in aid of teams funds is running through the Summer and tickets for the fantastic prize of an electric trolley and bag may be purchased at the Bar. Pace of Play We would encourage all our members to read the Pace of Play Policy available on our website. https://www.courtowngolfclub.com/pace-of-play.html Players are reminded that they should keep up with the group ahead of them and if they lose a hole to call the group behind through. Players may also ask to go through if they see space ahead. Our volunteer course rangers are back on the course on Saturdays and Sundays. If you are interested in joining the course rangers team please contact the office. Congratulations to Marc Devereux, winner of the keenly contested Paschal Storan Trophy Rule 9.6 Ball Lifted or Moved by Outside Influence If is known or virtually certain that an outside influence (including another player in stroke play or another ball) lifted or moved another player’s ball at rest: ● there is no penalty, and ● the ball must be replaced on its original spot (which if not known must be estimated) (see RULE 14.2) This applies whether or not the player’s ball has been found.
