The Leinster Events are open to all clubs within the Province; however the winners do not go forward to a National Finals - that does not mean that these competitions are less prestigious, The Barton Cup and Provincial Towns Cup are two of the most sought after cups by teams in Leinster.
The Barton Cup is a Leinster Men's Foursomes competition that dates back to 1905. The competiton is played on a match play basis throughout, with Courtown facing regional teams in the opening grounds. The Final is played over two legs, home and away, with all other matches being split 3 home and 2 away depending on the draw.
The Provincial Towns Challenge Cup is a singles match play Leinster Branch GUI event. It is aimed at 9-12 handicap golfers. Teams enter from all over Lennster excluding Dublin area (where an equivalent competition, the Metropolitan Cup is run). Courtown plays against regional opposition in the early rounds. The Final is played over two legs, home and away.
There are a number of regional events aimed at providing a different type of competition than that offered at a National and Provincial level. With local rivalries to the fore, the events are highly competitive but also offer a more social aspect than the National and Provincial events.
The Cullen Cup is a mixed foursomes competition run by Baltinglass Golf Club. The trophy was inaugrated in 1968 and named after the sponser and then Club Secretary, J D Cullen. It was the first interclub mixed foursomes competition in the South Leinster area.
The Duggan Cup is run by Edenderry Golf Club. It is a men's foursome match play event for the over 50s. Teams from all over the south Leinster region enter the competition and the semi finals and final are held in Edenderry Golf Club.
The JB Carr Trophy is run by Woodenbridge Golf Club, and was inaugrated in 1996 celebrating the great Irish amateur golfer, Joe Carr. The competiton runs nationally, but is based on county boundaries in the early rounds. It is a tournament for the over 60s.
The South Leinster Trophy is a men's single match play competition run by Carlow Golf Club.
