Lady Captain's Prize 2011
Day 1 of Lady Captain's Prize on Tuesday saw Sorcha Howell (5) not only lead the way but also secure a new course record with her score of 71 gross (66 net). Day 2 there was an air of expectancy with some exceptional golf. After scores were checked, it emerged that there was a two way tie! Sarah Donnellan (27) and Sorcha Howell (5) both finished on 140 pts. However, Sarah managed to just pip Sorcha and win on Day 2 countback! At age 23, Sarah has shown great tenacity to maintain her focus. Her combined scores of 72 and 68 secured her victory. Lady Captain Kate presented her beautiful prize of a gold fob watch. Well done to all our ladies for their exemplary performances over the two days!
Dinner Special
Captain's Prize 2011
The weekend belonged to one of our very low handicap golfers as the one and only Neville Steedman playing off a handicap of 1 scooped the Captain's Prize on Saturday last. Captain Noel McCartan, presented a magnificient painting of the fourth hole in Courtown titled "A Special Place". Neville's victory was made even sweeter when his son Ross took second place in the junior section, Darragh Hobbs took home the juniors prize. Pat Donnellan won second prize with an impressive 141 nett and Brendan Sheehan and and Ray Sloan were Gross and third winners respectively with 156 and 143 on the last 18. Congratulations to all who took part over the last two weeks, some spectacular golf all round!
Ecumenical Service
The annual Ecumenical Service will be held this Friday 12th August at 7 p.m. in the clubhouse. Fr. William Howell and Reverend Bob Gray will lead a brief service to remember our deceased members. All are welcome!
