Finn Trophy
THE FINN TROPHY RULES 2013
1. The Trophy shall be called the Finn Trophy and shall be competed for annually.
2. The competition shall be under the control and management of the Ladies Committee, Courtown Golf Club. It shall
be open to a maximum of 45 Clubs. Each Club to enter no more than 1 team. Teams shall consist of 10 female
players, and 2 subs, of amateur status as defined by the Golfing Union of Ireland.
3. Team members may only play for their Home Club. Handicap limit 28. Players may hold a higher handicap, but must
play off 28 in match. Juniors are permitted to play, subject to rules as outlined.
4. Play shall be by Fourball matches, the team winning the best of 5 matches to be the winner. Lowest handicap to
concede strokes to other 3 players based on ¾ the difference between the full handicaps, strokes to be taken
according to the stroke table, e.g.

5. The Committee for the purpose of settling a tie may extend the stipulated round (18 holes) to as many holes as
required for a match to be won.
6. Teams must play in strict order of combined handicaps.
7. The Captain of a team about to engage in a match shall exchange a list of the names and handicaps of the team in
order of play, 15 minutes before the match is due to start. The host team is responsible for fixing a reasonable
starting time. (Handicap sheet to be signed by Committee Member).
8. All matches to be played on or before the date fixed on the draw sheet.
9. The semi-final will be over two legs – Home and Away.
10. If the sides are level at the end of the second legs, the first (1st) pairing from each team will play “sudden death”
commencing at first tee.
11. If play is permanently ceased and abandoned due to adverse weather conditions (e.g. thunder storm, lighting, failing
light etc.) the winner will be decided by the Aggregate of “Holes up” at the time of permanent cessation of play.
12. The Final shall be played in COURTOWN on the last Thursday in August (29th).
13. The Entry Fee is €50 per team and is payable to the Finn Trophy Secretary, Courtown Golf Club.
14. No caddies allowed.
15. Should any dispute arise between competing Clubs, every effort should be made by the Clubs concerned to adjust the
difficulty amicably. The final decision lies with the Ladies Section, Courtown Golf Club Committee.
16. Motorized Buggies may be used only by persons presenting a current Medical Certificate of Disability and then only
if the host club permits the use of such buggies. The buggy may be used only by the person named on the certificate
and may only carry the player’s equipment.
FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES WILL MEAN DISQUALIFICATION.
The Trophy shall be held for 1 year by the Winning Club who shall be responsible for its safe keeping and return to Courtown Golf Club 2 weeks before the Final on the following year.
Each Club is responsible for their own meal expenses except for the Final, when Courtown Golf Club will host both Teams and their Lady Captains and Team Manager.
The Winning Team to notify Anne Targett (086–3962256) of the result as soon as possible after the Match has been played.
